Most of Alida’s life has been involved with sewing in one form or another. She started around the age of 10, when her great grandmother spent a few days showing her the basics on an old foot powered machine. From there Alida was hooked and continued to learn, mostly by trial and error. The early days involved pillows, simple quilts & basic clothes. As Alida’s skills progressed, her projects grew more complicated and eventually evolved into the niche products found on Martilena.com. Alida loves to experiment with different styles and work with fabrics of all colors and patterns.
For Alida, sewing as a business began shortly after the birth of her first child. While Alida’s original offerings were all high quality, her skills have now been honed to the point of producing items with a quality second to none in the industry. Originally operating under the name Wicked Stitch Designs, Alida recently changed the name to Martilena. The name Martilena is derived from both her children’s names, so she makes sure that every piece she produces is worthy of such a special name.
Do you ever sell yardage of the fabrics you use for Sparrow bags? I’m interested in purchasing yardage of Aqua Garden Trellis fabric.
Thanks!
Heather
Hi Heather,
No, I don’t really keep anything in stock. All of the prints shown for Sparrow bags are in tiny quantities. Sorry!
Hi this is Linda from Contestgirl.
I run a website called Contestgirl where I list online sweepstakes and contests. I see that your site Martilena-Handmade Bags hosts giveaways and I would like to invite you to have them listed on Contestgirl. There is no charge and it will send a few visitors your way.
My site gets about 4,000 unique visitors and delivers more than 40,000 page views each day – your giveaway will get a lot of exposure. I have quite a few blogs who regularly list their giveaways on my site and they tell me it generates a lot of traffic.
Here’s what some bloggers say about my site:
Jennine Jacob who write for Independant Fashion Blog lists Contestgirl as one of her 4 favorite places to promote her giveaways. You can read her article http://heartifb.com/2009/06/08/promote-your-giveaways-on-free-grechen. Cuckoo For Coupons has a great list of sites that promote giveaways – you can find it http://www.cuckooforcoupondeals.com/advertise-your-giveaway/. Note that she lists Contestgirl as a “high traffic site”. Finally, Brittany, who writes The Greer 5 blog lists here favorite sweepstakes sites http://thegreerfive.com/2010/03/09/top-ten-giveaway-listing-sites/. She has Contestgirl as her second favorite.
Anyway, if you’d like to give it a try, here’s the URL of the my form:
http://www.contestgirl.com/newGiveaway.pl?code=eXK9zYD9deI
Note that the ‘code’ in the URL is personalized for Martilena-Handmade Bags so please bookmark it and use it each time. If you use the link above, the form will remember selected fields the next time you use it so you won’t have to type them in each time. It will remember your site name, restrictions, your site URL and so on. I hope you’ll find it easy to use.
This form is new and I’m trying it out on just a few sites for now. If you have any problem with it please tell me right away.
Cheers,
Linda
